Janani G 1 month ago National News

A vessel carrying Russian Urals crude oil is expected to reach India on March 21, ensuring continued energy supplies amid global uncertainties.

According to Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the Aqua Titan vessel, chartered by Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited, will arrive at the New Mangalore Port on Saturday.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that two container vessels are currently operating in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy transport. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, noted that India may face some impact on LPG supplies. At present, about 47% of India’s LPG imports come from Qatar.

She added that India has already diversified its sources and is sourcing cargo from alternative suppliers.

These measures aim to maintain steady fuel supplies and ensure energy security for the country.
