Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 31, 2026 inaugurated a semiconductor facility at Sanand, highlighting India’s growing role as a reliable supplier in the global market.
The facility, set up by Kaynes Semicon, focuses on outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing. Speaking at the event, Mr. Modi said the project marks a major step towards building a strong semiconductor ecosystem and boosting self-reliance.
He noted that India’s semiconductor industry is expanding across several states, creating opportunities for young people. The government is also working on Semiconductor Mission 2.0 to further scale up efforts in the sector.
The Prime Minister said the initiative supports the “Make in India” and “Make for the World” vision. He also highlighted India’s participation in the Pax Silica initiative to strengthen the supply of critical minerals.
Modi added that production at the Sanand plant is already linked to global markets, with supplies reaching a company in California, creating a connection between Sanand and Silicon Valley.
The development reflects India’s continued push to strengthen its position in the global technology landscape.
