The United States has returned 657 stolen antiquities worth nearly 14 million dollars to India, marking a major success in global cultural preservation efforts. The announcement was made by Alvin Bragg during an official event in New York attended by Indian diplomats. These artifacts were recovered through multiple investigations into international trafficking networks targeting India’s heritage. Among the returned items is a rare bronze statue of Avalokiteshvara valued at 2 million dollars, originally housed in the Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum in Raipur. Also included is a sandstone sculpture of dancing Ganesha stolen from Madhya Pradesh. Indian officials expressed gratitude for continued cooperation between US authorities and Indian agencies in restoring these invaluable cultural treasures.
