The Forecast 12 hours ago National News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a new record in Indian political history by becoming the country’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister in consecutive terms. He completed 4,399 continuous days in office, surpassing the previous record held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who served 4,398 consecutive days after the first general election. The achievement was formally recognised during a Union Cabinet meeting, where a resolution was passed praising Modi’s milestone and his years of public service.

The record comes as the National Democratic Alliance government completes twelve years under Modi’s leadership. Cabinet members reportedly applauded the achievement and highlighted it as a significant moment in the country’s democratic journey.

Before this milestone, the longest continuous tenures among elected Prime Ministers were held by Jawaharlal Nehru with 4,398 days, Indira Gandhi with 4,078 days, and Manmohan Singh with 3,657 days. Modi’s latest achievement places him at the top of this list.

The milestone has attracted attention across political circles and has been marked as an important chapter in India’s democratic history. It reflects a period of sustained leadership and highlights the significance of continuity in public office within the country’s parliamentary system.
