Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has announced an initial allocation of ₹354 crore for the newly proposed Singa Penn Special Force, a dedicated initiative aimed at strengthening women’s safety and security across the state. The announcement marks a significant step in expanding measures focused on protection, vigilance, and rapid response to crimes against women.
According to the Chief Minister, the funding will be used to establish and operationalise the force during its first phase. The initiative is expected to enhance the state’s ability to respond quickly to safety concerns while improving overall security mechanisms for women.
As part of the project, the government will create 2,500 new positions to support the force’s activities. These appointments are expected to help build the required infrastructure and manpower needed for effective implementation. Officials stated that the recruitment process and operational planning will be carried out in phases.
The Singa Penn Force is intended to function as a specialised unit focused on women’s protection and public safety. The programme reflects the government’s broader efforts to strengthen law enforcement support systems and improve security measures across Tamil Nadu.
With dedicated funding and new appointments, the initiative represents an important step toward enhancing safety and creating a stronger support framework for women throughout the state.
