Students in Tamil Nadu will be allowed to travel free of cost on government buses as schools prepare to reopen on June 4, Transport Minister Vijay Tamilan Parthiban announced. The decision has been made to ensure that students can reach their educational institutions without disruption during the transition period.
According to the minister, students studying in government schools can travel on government buses without paying a fare if they are wearing their school uniforms. The arrangement will come into effect when schools reopen and will continue until regular travel facilities are fully in place.
The minister also stated that students enrolled in government arts and science colleges can travel by presenting their educational institution identity cards. This measure has been introduced because additional time is required to issue new bus passes for the academic year.
Officials said the temporary arrangement has been made to avoid inconvenience to students and ensure uninterrupted access to education. The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of school and college students across the state as the new academic session begins.
The latest announcement reflects the government’s efforts to support students and provide convenient transportation during the reopening of educational institutions.
