A large-scale awareness campaign against child labour was organised in Tirupur on World Day Against Child Labour, drawing strong participation from government officials, students, workers, and the public. The event highlighted the importance of protecting children's rights and ensuring access to education.
The signature campaign was inaugurated by Tirupur District Collector Naravare Manish Shankar Rao (IAS) in front of the District Collectorate. The programme was organised by the SAVE voluntary organisation with support from various government departments. Senior officials, including representatives from the Labour Department, Revenue Department, Social Welfare Department, and Child Protection Unit, took part in the initiative and expressed their support for eliminating child labour.
During the event, awareness messages were delivered on the importance of education and the need to prevent children below the age of fourteen from entering the workforce. Participants also took a pledge supporting child rights and educational opportunities for every child.
More than 1,000 people, including government employees, college students, police personnel, members of private organisations, migrant workers, and members of the public, joined the campaign. Awareness programmes, songs, and street theatre performances were also conducted to spread the message.
The campaign reflected a shared commitment to creating a future where every child can learn, grow, and live free from child labour.
