Rajpath, also known as Rajpath in Delhi, is historic. The Republic Day parade usually takes place on that route. At present, the central government is carrying out Central Vista works, including the rehabilitation of Rajapathi and the construction of a new parliament.
In this situation, the central government has decided to change the name of Rajapathi to 'Kartavya Path', meaning 'path of duty'. The entire road and sections from the Netaji Statue at India Gate to the President's House will be called the 'Kartavya Path'.
A special meeting of the New Delhi Municipal Council will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) to change the name. In it, the resolution to change the name is presented.
