Telangana will build its own 'Times Square' to celebrate local spirit and encourage youth participation

The Telangana government has invited tenders to build its own 'Times Square' in Hyderabad. A public space converted into a 'T-Square' in Rayadurgam, a hi-tech city, will be a place of communication where people can gather freely throughout the day to relax after the daily grind. The open plaza accommodates a variety of events to celebrate the local spirit, from impromptu concerts to organized events.

Cyberabad has more than 100 large IT/ITeS and BFSI companies and employs around one million employees. Hyderabad Knowledge City, developed at Rayadurgam, is a new wing to this bustling region. Despite constant infrastructural upgrades to the area, it was found that there was a lack of communal space for the growing young population living there. To provide a more attractive environment to its residents, the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) has launched a project that reflects the spirit of Cyberabad.

TGIIC is the nodal agency responsible for planning, development and maintenance of industrial infrastructure and ancillary facilities across the state. For this project, TGIIC has invited consultancy proposal for architectural and transactional advisory services for development of T-square at Rayadurgam. The corporation said its aim is to develop the intersection as a major tourist destination as a vibrant urban space and entertainment hub. It will be a cooperation zone and a commercial hub to bring people together.

The consultancy is expected to assist TGIIC in the following tasks: suggest appropriate project structures and assist TGIIC in finalizing an appropriate structure for project development; Support TGIIC in undertaking bid process management for identification and selection of leading private developers to undertake development of the proposed project; and facilitate TGIIC in issuing LoA to the selected developer, sign the contract and review till financial close of the project.
