The Forecast 1 month ago Tamil Nadu

Gyanesh Kumar IAS., the Chief Election Commissioner, has asserted that the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will set a voting record that will be even better than Bihar. Interacting with the media in Chennai, he said Tamil Nadu has consistently led the country in voter turnout percentage.

Responding to queries, he clarified that while the online nomination facility is available on the Election Commission website, physical filing of nominations remains mandatory under the law. He said special efforts will be taken to motivate young voters aged 18 to 30 to actively participate in the festival of democracy. On concerns about money flow, he warned that unaccounted cash would be seized and appealed to small traders not to carry cash beyond permissible limits. He added that political parties suggested a single-phase election, which will be duly considered. He also noted that female voters outnumber male voters in the state and assured adequate support for vulnerable sections at polling booths.
