Janani G 6 days ago National News

India has supplied 38,000 metric tonnes of fuel to Sri Lanka, providing support as the island nation manages its energy requirements.

According to a statement from the Indian High Commission in Colombo, the shipment includes 20,000 metric tonnes of diesel and 18,000 metric tonnes of petrol. The delivery comes shortly after a phone conversation between Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, where they discussed the ongoing situation in West Asia and cooperation in the energy sector.

In addition, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath on March 23 to further strengthen bilateral coordination.

The fuel assistance highlights continued cooperation between the two countries and aims to support Sri Lanka’s energy stability during a challenging period
