Tamil Nadu now has a new Eminent Chief Secretary- Shiv Das Meena I.A.S.

Shiv Das Meena I. A. S, a prominent bureaucrat, was appointed as the state government's new chief secretary on Thursday. On Friday evening, he will take over as the 49th Chief Secretary of State.
The existing chief secretary, V Irai Anbu, who is retiring on Friday, issued an order to that effect. Meena is ranked 12th among the TN cadre.
Tonk in the Rajasthan district is home to the officer from the 1989 class. The bureaucrat holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Rajasthan University as well as a master's degree in international development studies from Kobe, Japan.
Meena began his three-decade career as an assistant collector in Kancheepuram district in 1990, and later rose through the ranks to become additional collector (development) and project officer, DRDA in Vellore and subsequently Coimbatore.
Meena took over the Nagapattinam district collectorate during the M Karunanidhi rule, after a brief term as managing director of Jeeva Transport Corporation in Erode. Before becoming joint commissioner (education) in the Corporation of Chennai in 2004, he worked as a joint secretary in the IT department, additional registrar of cooperative societies, executive director of Chennai Metrowater, and additional commissioner of civil supplies and consumer protection.
He was the managing director of Metrowater, TAHDCO, and Medical Services Corporation, as well as the executive director of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
Shiv das Meena also served as commissioner of commercial taxes, agriculture, civic supplies, and consumer protection when late chief minister J Jayalalithaa reclaimed power in 2011. She nominated him as the administration of Annamalai University in Chidambaram, a newly established position, to straighten out the system after financial problems made headlines.
Meena also served as the department's main secretary for cooperation, food, and consumer safety before becoming Jayalalithaa's second-term secretary in June 2016. After Jayalalithaa's death, authority was transferred to her successors, O Panneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami, in the post he held till July 2017.
The senior bureaucrat was sent on central deputation to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as joint secretary, and was later promoted to additional secretary. He also served as chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board for a year before being chosen by chief minister M K Stalin to lead the municipal administration and water supply department in June 2021.
