Coconut cracking protest in front of collector office in Dindigul

Dindigul: A coconut cracking protest was held on Monday by the Tamil Nadu Coconut Farmers Association to demand a remunerative price for coconuts.
District President Pichaimani presided over the protest held in front of the District Collector's office. District Secretary Krishnan took the lead.
During the protest, copra coconuts should be purchased at Rs.140 per kg. The quantity of copra procured from regulated outlets should be increased from 290 kg to 900 kg. Crop insurance should also be provided for coconut trees. They chanted 10-point demands including that coconut should be procured at Rs.50 per kg through cooperative societies like Kerala.
The protest by farmers breaking coconuts in front of the district collector's office created a stir.
