K. Annamalai, president of the BJP in Tamil Nadu, responded on Sunday to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's remarks that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had no moral right to speak about corruption in the aftermath of alleged irregularities in Central government projects and schemes flagged by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. In a statement, he stated that the CAG audit solely identified cost increases in highway building and not corruption. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that road projects in Tamil Nadu were being delayed due to difficulties in obtaining raw materials and urged the state administration to keep material prices under control. Mr. Annamalai suggested that Mr. Stalin explain how corruption can occur in toll collection at toll plazas.
