Chief minister M.K. Stalin presented the Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi Semmozhi Tamil Award to Tamil scholar K. Ramasamy, former Deputy-Director of the Central Institute of Indian Languages, on Tuesday. The prize, which is granted for the outstanding contribution to classical Tamil studies by a scholar or a research institution in certain fields, comes with a ten lakh rupee cheque, a citation plaque, and a bronze replica of the giver, Karunanidhi. M.P. Saminathan, Minister for Tamil Development, Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena, and other top officials were present. Mr. Stalin also inaugurated a statue of P. Subbarayan, former Chief Minister of the then Madras Presidency from 1926 to 1930 during colonial administration. The unveiling of the statue at Gandhi Mandapam in Guindy was attended by key ministers and authorities. Tributes have been paid On the occasion of the late freedom warrior V.O. Chidambaranar's birth anniversary, Governor R.N. Ravi paid floral tributes to his image at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai on Tuesday. The Governor also decorated a portrait of former President S. Radhakrishnan with flowers. On Teachers' Day, the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the teaching community in a social media message.
