Postal Voting Facility for Senior Citizens and PwDs

Janani G 4 weeks ago Tamil Nadu

The Election Commission of India has introduced a postal ballot facility for voters aged 85 years and above, as well as persons with disabilities, for the Assembly elections scheduled on April 23, 2026.

In an official statement, Erode District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy said polling will take place across all eight Assembly constituencies in the district. He added that eligible voters who are unable to visit polling stations can choose to cast their votes through the postal ballot system.

The initiative aims to ensure that senior citizens and differently-abled voters can participate in the electoral process without facing difficulties in reaching polling booths. Officials have made necessary arrangements to facilitate smooth and secure voting through this method.

Authorities said awareness efforts are also being carried out to inform eligible voters about this option.

The move is expected to improve voter participation by making the election process more accessible and inclusive for all sections of society.
