Stalin Unveils DMK Manifesto with ₹8,000 Appliance Coupon Promise

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on March 29, 2026, released the DMK’s manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections, announcing a key welfare scheme for homemakers.

Describing it as a “Superstar” manifesto, Mr. Stalin introduced the Illatharasi Scheme, under which housewives who do not pay income tax will receive a coupon worth ₹8,000. The coupon can be used to purchase or replace household electronic appliances such as washing machines, televisions, grinders, refrigerators, mixies, microwave ovens, and induction stoves.

The announcement was made at an event in Chennai, where the DMK president outlined the party’s focus on welfare and support for families. In addition to the new scheme, Mr. Stalin said the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme will be expanded to include students up to Class 8.

The manifesto highlights a mix of social welfare and public service initiatives aimed at supporting households and improving access to basic facilities.

The announcements set the tone for the upcoming election campaign, with a focus on inclusive welfare measures and everyday needs of citizens.
