Authorities in Erode have called for strict adherence to election rules to ensure fair and transparent polling in the upcoming Assembly elections.
District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy on March 16, 2026, instructed all stakeholders to follow the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India. He stressed that any bulk distribution of gifts, suspicious financial transactions, or printing of objectionable materials must be reported immediately.
The Collector also warned that unusual large purchases, especially in jewellery shops, would be closely monitored. He issued these directions while chairing a meeting at the Collectorate with owners of marriage halls, lodges, printing presses, and jewellery shops.
Officials said the aim is to prevent violations of the Model Code of Conduct and maintain the integrity of the election process. Stakeholders were urged to cooperate fully with authorities during this period.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections across the district.
