The Forecast 1 week ago National News

Polling for the Assembly elections in Puducherry, Kerala, and Assam concluded yesterday, with Puducherry recording its highest-ever voter turnout.

According to official data, Puducherry registered a total voter turnout of 89.83 percent, marking the highest in its history. This is also the highest turnout recorded in any Assembly election in the region since 1964.

Assam also reported a strong participation rate, with 85.38 percent of voters casting their ballots. This marks an increase compared to the 2016 Assembly elections, where the turnout stood at 84.67 percent.

The high voter turnout in both regions reflects active participation by the public in the electoral process. Kerala also witnessed polling as part of the same phase, contributing to the overall election exercise.

Election authorities ensured smooth and orderly voting across all polling stations, with necessary arrangements in place to facilitate voters.

The strong turnout highlights the continued engagement of citizens in the democratic process and the importance of elections in shaping governance.
