Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing women’s reservation in legislatures by 2029.
Speaking at the Mahila Shakti Sammelan in Delhi, the Prime Minister said that women’s reservation is an essential step toward strengthening political participation. He announced that discussions on the related bill will begin in Parliament from April 16.
Modi emphasized that the government is determined to ensure the implementation of the reservation within the stated timeline. He noted that the proposed law is aimed at increasing representation of women in decision-making roles and public life.
During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted that the measure would support women with strong ideas and leadership qualities to take part more actively in politics. He added that the bill could help create new opportunities for women across the country.
The announcement comes as part of broader efforts to promote inclusive governance and gender representation.
