In Erode, about 50 thousand powerlooms are operating in Erode, Veerappanchatram, Ashokapuram, Manikampalayam, Lakkapuram, Chithod and its surrounding areas. The power loom owners announced that the power looms would go on strike as they did not get the right price for the rayon fabric. Accordingly, power looms have not been working for the last 8 days. This affected the production of clothes worth Rs. 48 crore at the rate of Rs. 6 crore per day. Also, workers lost their jobs. In this situation, power looms started working as usual from yesterday.
