A special study meeting was held in Pooncheri Village, Mamallapuram, where the 44th Chess Olympiad will be held on 12-7-2022 (yesterday), at the Pointes Sheraton star hotel complex, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, regarding the proper conduct of the chess Olympiad.
On June 19, 2022, in connection with the 44th Chess Olympiad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the program held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Sports Stadium, Delhi, lit the Olympiad torch and started the torch relay. The Olympiad torch is planned to travel through 75 cities in 26 states in India in 40 days and finally reach Mamallapuram. It is planned to welcome the Olympiad torch at 15 places with prominent personalities and sportspeople.
At this meeting, Ministers A. V. Velu, T. Mo. Anparasan, M. Mathiventhan, Member of Parliament A. Raza, Member of Legislative Assembly Udayanidhi Stalin, Deputy Chairman of Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority Ashok Chikamani, Chief Secretary V. Iraianbu IAS, Director General of Police S. Shailendra Babu IPS, Additional Chief Secretary Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department Siv Das Meena IAS, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Department N. Muruganandanam, Principal Secretary Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department Apoorva, Principal Secretary Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department Apoorva, Principal Secretary Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department Apoorva, Senior government officials and executives of the Chess Federation were present.
