The 75th Independence Day of our country is going to be celebrated with grandeur today (Monday). Tamil Nadu Government is celebrating Independence Day today at Chennai George Fort. After accepting the parade honors, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin hoists the national flag on the fort ramparts and pays his respects. Subsequently, Thakaisal honors the awardees by presenting various types of awards including the Tamil Award.

On the occasion of the festival, more than one lakh policemen have been engaged in security work across Tamil Nadu. The police are making all necessary security arrangements to ensure that the Independence Day celebrations are conducted well so that no untoward incidents take place.
