Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin launches Rs.1000 p.m. Scheme to class 6 - 12 th of TN Govt Students

The Pen Kalvi Scheme, announced by the Tamil Nadu government to provide a monthly monetary assistance of Rs 1,000 to girls students, who are enrolling in higher education after completing Classes 6–12 in government schools, is set to be launched on September 5.

 

It has been reported that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be the chief guest at the launch of the scholarship scheme. As many as 90,000 girls have been selected for the scholarship, and the process of finalising the number is in full swing.

 

The scheme was announced by the Tamil Nadu government under its flagship scheme Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme in the 2022-23 Budget session at a cost of Rs 698 crore.

 

The last date to apply for the scheme was announced to be June 30, but the deadline was extended to July 10.

 

The scheme will facilitate a transfer of Rs 1,000 into the student's bank account every month. Students pursuing bachelor's degrees in state-run as well as self-financing Arts, Science, Polytechnic, Engineering, and vocational colleges are eligible to apply for the scheme. However, students studying through Distance Education and Open University aren’t eligible to avail of this scheme.
