Thangam Thennarasu, Hon'ble Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, today (02.11.2022) has attended a Program on "Greenfield Airport: Timely Initiative to Fast Track TN's Growth" jointly organized by the Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited and the Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry and delivered keynote address.

In this event, . Mallika Srinivasan, Member, Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission and Chairman & Managing Director of Tafe Ltd., delivered a special address to the gathering.

Experts from the Sector expressed their views on the increasing demand for air transport and cargo transport, the challenges faced by the current Chennai Airport from the perspective of airlines and passengers, the need for the construction of this new airport, the infrastructural facilities of international standards to be set up at the new airport, and the economic benefits that the new airport will bring to the State through increase in industries, growth in trade and generation of new employment opportunities.

S. Krishnan, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce Department, elaborated on "Overall Development from the Government Perspective" with an illustrative Power Point Presentation to make it understandable to even common people.
