The Ministers held talks on land acquisition at Parantur for Chennai International Airport

under the leadership of V. Velu
Minister for Public Works, Highways, and Minor Ports, (20.12.2022). Minister for Industries, Thangam Thannarasu, and Rural Development A group of ministers led by Industries Minister Thamo Anparasan held talks with the farmers.

Kanchipuram district, 7 revenue villages in Kanchipuram circle, 6 revenue villages in Sriperumbudur circle totaling 13 revenue villages were studied for land acquisition for construction of Chennai New International Airport.

As the farmers in Ekanapuram village objected to the acquisition of their land, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports Minister A.V. Velu, Industries Minister Mr. Thangam Thennarasu and Rural Industries Minister T. Mo. Anparasan directly appealed to the farmers.  They ordered to meet and hold talks.

Subsequently, on 15.10.2022 at the Secretariat K. Saravanan, P. Ravichandran, D. Kathiresan from Ekanapuram village.  S. Karunakaran, S. Ganapathi, K. Subramanian, V. Munusamy and Lo. Ilango held talks with the farmers.
At that time, the village of Ekanapuram itself was a Samathupuram.  Our village must be protected.  They asked to inform the way for that.
  The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu said that he is sure that no one should be affected, and for that he has ordered to provide employment for livelihood and to pay compensation 3.5 times the market value.
Following this, the villagers of Ekanapuram abandoned their planned walk on 17.10.2022, insisting on their demand.

However, they kept insisting on their demand again and again and based on the decision of the Ministerial Committee to hold talks with them, (20.12.2022) negotiations were held again at 3 pm at the secretariat

In this discussion, farmers K. Saravanan, Lo. Ilango, P. Ravichandran, D. Kathiresan, K. Subramani S. Ganapathi, N. Balaraman, V. Munusamy, S. Karunakaran, K. Jayakumar from Ekanapuram village participated in the discussion.  .

The farmers who participated in the talks requested that no land acquisition should be avoided in Ekanapuram village, the agricultural land should not be affected, the water bodies should not be affected, and the airport should be constructed.
The Ministers explained to the farmers of Ekanapuram the need for a relevant expert committee to study and take a decision on the location of the airport and its geographical change hydrological system.

Farmers from Ekanapuram village accepted this and expressed their full cooperation.
