Madurai District Pandyan Consumer Cooperative Wholesale Warehouse was inspected by the Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Cooperatives, Food Supply and Consumer Protection and he visited Pandian Silks and Sarees's operations of the new outlet and inquired about its details.

Chief Co-operative Bank, District Central Co-operative Banks, Primary Agricultural Co-operative Credit Societies, Co-operative Stores etc. are the departments which can work most directly in the welfare of the public. More than 22 thousand cooperative societies are functioning in Tamil Nadu
Among them, there are 4 thousand 453 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies.
In the various levels of banks operating under the cooperative sector, in the last financial year alone Rs. 71 thousand 950 crores worth of deposits have been earned.
A total of Rs. 64 thousand 140 crores 17 types of loans have been provided. A total of 35,941 ration shops are functioning in Tamil Nadu. It includes 26,018 full-time shops and 9,923 part-time shops.It is planned to renovate the existing ration price shops in all the districts.
In the last year alone, 5,784 ration shops have received ISO certification. In the current year, a target has been set to renovate an additional 5,000 ration shops and to obtain ISO certification for an additional 2,500 ration shops.
All newly constructed ration shops are constructed with toilets. Toilets will be installed in all ration shops within a year.
There is an in-principle announcement by the government regarding bringing ration shops under one management. In this regard, administrative possibilities are being explored keeping in mind the welfare of the employees.
Steps will be taken to improve the transactions of cooperative banks, UPI, phone banking etc. Work is being done to consolidate various services provided to the public in cooperative societies and develop them into multi-purpose service centers available at one place.
